Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has filed a review petition in the Supreme Court on the decision to withdraw the bat symbol. According to the details, the Registrar Office of the Supreme Court has allotted diary number 2423/2024, in which PTI has requested the Supreme Court to review the decision of the intra-party elections. That the Supreme Court should review its decision and reinstate the decision of the Peshawar High Court, the intra-party elections were conducted according to the party constitution, the Election Commission does not have the authority to review the intra-party elections.
It has been stated in the petition that every possible effort is being made to exclude PTI from the general elections, people dressed in plain clothes kept kidnapping PTI candidates in broad daylight, sometimes they were prevented from submitting their papers and sometimes they were suggested. And the supporters were arrested.PTI has said in the application that it is the job of the
Election Commission to provide a level playing field to PTI, instead of taking
action against the responsible party, the Election Commission is taking action
against the founder PTI by going to jail. The matter of taking should be seen
in the whole context.
Meanwhile, the Islamabad High Court ordered not to harass
the candidates and activists of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf, Chief Justice Amir
Farooq issued orders on the petition of PTI candidates Shoaib Shaheen and Ali
Bukhari, level playing field in the Islamabad High Court. A hearing was held on
the petitions against non-meeting, Chief Justice Amir Farooq heard the petition
to stop the election campaign and harassment of Tehreek-e-Insaf nominated
candidates, Shoaib Shaheen and Ali Bukhari appeared before the court.
It has been reported that during the hearing, lawyer Shoaib
Shaheen took a stand that 'the police are picking up our supporters and telling
them to leave the PTI, our people are being told to join another party, phone
calls. They say that if you hold a rally, a report will be filed against you.
On this occasion, Ali Bukhari Advocate said that the election campaign and
rallies that were to be held have already happened, today is the last day, our
polling agents are being threatened by calls, if Islamabad's model police will
adopt this behavior. Then what image will go'?
It has been learned that during the hearing, the Election
Commission's lawyer told the court that "as many applications as received
by the Election Commission were processed on the same day, the Commission
ordered the IG Islamabad to look into the matter". Told that 'out of 112
candidates, only two such allegations have been made', the Chief Justice
smilingly remarked that 'complaints should come only from those who have had
problems'.
After the hearing of this case, Chief Justice Amir Farooq
issued orders that it is not appropriate to knowingly pick up people, you are
the responsible officer, so you have been summoned, otherwise we will call the
IG and the Home Secretary. The Election Commission has to conduct clean and
transparent elections, why are you not looking at all these things under your
authority', later the court adjourned the hearing till next week with
instructions not to harass the candidates. .
